Update (24 March):

Police can now confirm the identity of the victim in the fatal collision which occurred early Saturday morning, 20 March. He is 23- year-old Xavier Senior, a Jamaican National who resided in Grand Cayman. The RCIPS extends our condolences to his family.

Initial Release (20 March):

Just after 2:35 AM this morning, 20 March, police and other emergency services were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communication Centre to a report of a single-vehicle collision that took place along Seaview Road, East End, in the vicinity of the blowholes. It was reported that a jeep wrangler that was travelling westbound ran over the guard railing and into the water.
 
One occupant of the vehicle was recovered by officers from the Cayman Islands Fire Service and was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced dead by the attending doctor. No other persons have been recovered from this collision and no other persons reported being involved or injured.
 
The roadway has been closed to the public since the arrival of emergency services to accommodate on-scene investigations, and remain closed at this time. The public is being asked to avoid this area during their travels. The RCIPS apologies for any inconveniences this road closure may have caused.
 
This fatal collision is being investigated by the Traffic and Roads Policing Unit and anyone with information is encouraged to call 649-6254 or the Bodden Town Police Station at 947-2220.
