Unlucky 13 businesses in same GT plaza targeted by thieves

130930_19514_320Although 13 businesses in the same location – Grand Plaza on Howard Street, George Town were unlucky enough to be targeted by thieves during the night and morning of 4th and 5th of January 4 were actually lucky. The thieves tried but were unable to gain access to them.

A spokesperson for the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) said they received a report from unit #29 at around 8am on Jan 5th of a break in but on arrival discovered it was not the only one. Nine of the units had been broken into with the criminals smashing the glass of the front doors. The attempts to gain entry to the additional four units was by breaking the locks of the rear doors.

A quantity of cash was stolen was along with work related clothing, the RCIPS said. To date no arrests have been reported to us  in relation to this crime.
