Trinidad and Tobago’s President pays courtesy call on Cayman Islands Chief Justice

Screen Shot 2015-12-19 at 9.08.42 PM Screen Shot 2015-12-19 at 9.08.52 PMThe President of Trinidad and Tobago, His Excellency Anthony Carmona SC, ORTT, in Cayman on a private visit, made a courtesy call on the Hon. Chief Justice Anthony Smellie Q.C., on Thursday, 17 December, 2015.

President Carmona and the Chief Justice were joined by Justice Quin, Justice Williams, Justice Mangatal and Court Administrator Kevin McCormac. Wide ranging discussions during the visit of the President and former judge included the independence of the judiciary, developments in response to crime, and support for judicial training and collaboration.

While here President Carmona also paid courtesy calls on HE the Governor Helen Kilpatrick and Premier Alden McLaughlin.

His Excellency Carmona is the fifth President of Trinidad and Tobago, in office since 2013. Previously he was a High Court Judge at the Supreme Court of Trinidad and Tobago, and a Judge of the International Criminal Court, from 2012 to 2013.
