No matter what healthy eating plan you use, at some point you may find yourself drawn to fast food. But before you pull into that drive-through lane or walk inside to indulge in a guilty pleasure read this and be aware that you have options that will not leave you remorseful for days.

Some fast food items and meals are far better than others in terms of calories and fat, and knowing what to eat is crucial. And because we are talking about indulging yourself here, no salads will appear on the list below! This list is meant to give you that got-to-have-it reprieve from your healthy diet.

McDonald’s hamburger. If you absolutely must indulge this craving then don’t feel too guilty. Each burger is 250 calories and has 8 grams of fat and 31 grams of carbs, according to the fast-food chain. Add fries and you are ingesting another 230 calories and 11 grams of fat.

Burger King Whopper Jr. BK is the home of the Whopper, so for your occasional splurge choose this item, which has 310 calories — very reasonable by fast food standards. You also, however, will be getting 18 grams of fat.

Chick-fil-A grilled chicken sandwich. If you consider keeping lunch under 500 calories a victory, then go ahead and splurge. This sandwich has 310 calories, 6 grams of fat and 29 grams of protein. But you are also getting 820 mg of sodium, which by fast food standards, is not terrible. You will, however, have to watch your intake for the rest of the day.

Burger King hamburger or cheeseburger. If you absolutely have to have it, the Burger King hamburger won’t damage your eating plan too badly, with only 240 calories. It also has 10 grams of fat. The cheeseburger is 280 calories with 13 grams of fat.

Steak Fresco Soft Taco from Taco Bell. Grab one, or two or even three for lunch without destroying your diet. One of these tacos contains only 150 calories, 4 grams of fat and contains 10 grams of protein, according to USA Today.

McDonald’s Egg White Delight McMuffin. Need a quick breakfast but don’t want to start the day with a load of calories? Then choose this option, which has only 280 calories. It also contains 10 grams of fat but delivers 18 grams of protein.

Chick-Fil-A Grilled Nuggets. These contain 140 calories, 3.5 grams of fat and 25 grams of protein, says USA Today.

Burger King Ham, Egg & Cheese Biscuit. The 370 calories are reasonable, but you will be ingesting 22 grams of fat. The real problem is the 1,290 mg of sodium, which is more than half your daily allowance.

McDonald’s Artisan Grilled Sandwich. This will set you back 380 calories and 6 grams of fat, notes USA Today, which points out it’s a far better choice than the 770-calorie Quarter Pounder with Cheese.

Chick-fil-A Bacon, Egg & Cheese Muffin. With only 310 calories you can enjoy this fast food breakfast without too much guilt. Even the sodium isn’t awful – 720 mg.

KFC’s Fiery Buffalo Hot Wings. Each wing is only 70 calories, so have a few for a satisfying lunch treat. All of KFC’s hot wings are 90 calories or less per piece but watch your sodium – the fiery buffalo hot wings have 290 mg each.
