Traffic Fatality in Cayman Brac

Uniform officers in Cayman Brac are continuing with their investigation into the fatal crash at the intersection of Ashton Reid Drive and Song Bird Drive. 49 year old Jose Abel Zelaya of West End, Cayman Brac lost control of his Honda motor car collided with a wooden fence post before the vehicle erupted in flames.

Condolences are extended to the family.

On Friday 2nd January 2015 around 11:40 pm, Police received a report of Motor Vehicle accident at the Intersection of Ashton Reid Drive and Songbird Drive, Cayman Brac.

A Honda Logo Motor Car which was travelling in southerly direction lost control and swerved off the road where it struck a wooden fence post. The vehicle became engulfed in flames which were extinguished by the Fire Department. Following the fire being brought under control an adult male was found behind the steering wheel. The identity of the driver is yet to be confirmed.

Investigators from Grand Cayman have been flown to the Brac to assist in the investigation.

Police are currently on the scene of a fatal car accident in the vicinity of Songbird Dr./ Ashton Reid Dr.,Cayman Brac.

Shooting on Watercourse Road, West Bay

At 2:46 am this morning, Police received a report of a person injured in the vicinity of Super C’s Restaurant on Watercourse Road, West Bay.

On arrival, a 22 year old male was found on the floor with what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

He was taken to Georgetown Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The male has been identified as Victor Oliver Yates, a resident of West Bay.

Police have commenced a murder investigation and anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to contact the West Bay Police Station at 949-3999 or CRIME STOPPERS at 800- 8477.

A Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to the bereaved family.

The Police and Emergency personnel are currently on the scene at a reported shooting at Super C’s Restaurant on Watercourse Road ,West Bay.

House burgled off West Bay Road

A house was broken into on Helen Drive off West Bay Road last night (Fri) at approx 1 am, and a handbag was stolen containing $400, keys and a Philippines passport belonging to one of the tenants. Two tenants were sleeping in the room that was broken into but the burglar or burglars were disturbed when their son went into the room. The robbers then fled with the handbag. Entry had been gained through a bathroom window that had been left open and their escape was made back the same way.
