Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, June 16, 2016 – On Saturday, June 11, the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism (CIDOT) along with Cayman’s National Airline, Cayman Airways, “flew” into Grapevine Mills Mall in Grapevine, Texas, with a fun consumer pop-up event promoting the airline’s direct summer flights from Dallas to Grand Cayman.

Geared towards both Dallas and Fort Worth residents visiting the popular mall, the event marked the start of Cayman Airways’ nonstop summer service connecting Dallas and Grand Cayman. Showcasing the unique “Caymankind” hospitality, shoppers were surprised by Cayman Airways’ flight attendants giving out the airline’s signature tropical Fruit Punch. Passerbys were also given the opportunity to save on their Cayman Airways travel with airline discounts and were able to enter a sweepstakes to win a Cayman Islands inspired luggage set and complimentary roundtrip airfare to the Cayman Islands courtesy of Cayman Airways.

“Our goal was to bring a piece of the destination’s signature “Caymankind” hospitality to Dallas to engage directly with this important market,” said Mrs. Rosa Harris, Director of Tourism. “The partnership with Cayman Airways on this surprise event enabled us to both, promote the destination’s unforgettable experiences as well as communicate how accessible the destination is from Dallas. Our aim was to encourage prospective visitors to trade the Texas heat for the cool breezes of the Cayman Islands this summer. Stimulating summer travel to the Cayman Islands is our top priority in order to positively impact continued stay-over tourism levels to our country.”

“In 2012, we started the first service between Dallas-Fort Worth and the Cayman Islands and we are always very excited to return to Dallas each summer when we have the privilege of flying visitors to the Cayman Islands,” noted Cayman Airways Executive Vice President and CFO, Paul Tibbetts. “We love providing our passengers with true Caymankindness as only Cayman Airways can. Little things, like complimentary Fruit and Rum Punch, a free delicious meal service inflight, two free checked bags up to 55 pounds each, and an authentic Caymanian experience on-board, mean that we are able to ensure that our passengers’ Cayman holiday starts long before their arrival in the Cayman Islands. We were delighted to partner with the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism to bring a small flavour of that Caymankindness to visitors at Grapevine Mills and look forward to welcoming many on-board this summer.”

Alongside Cayman Airways’ flight attendants, shoppers were greeted by Miss Cayman Islands, Monyque Brooks, who was on-site to help promote the destination and was available for meet-and-greet and photo opportunities with consumers.
