How the new law against forced labor in Xinjiang will impact fashion 
The Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act came into force on June 21, compelling the fashion industry to rid their supply chains of Xinjiang cotton or face hefty fines and a ban on importing their products to the U.S. Clothing brands are turning to blockchain technology to track their full supply chains and prove the absence of forced labor in their products. We welcome this ban as a critical step towards ending the exploitation of the Uyghur people in the region. Read more…

Trafficking victims traumatized by indefinite immigration detention in U.K.
Three Sudanese men who have survived trafficking and torture must stay in detention facilities in the U.K. after a high court ruling this week. The survivors had requested release while their trafficking cases are reviewed as being held in prison-like settings is worsening their trauma. The Freedom United community is urging governments to stop detaining trafficking survivors and protect them from further trauma. Read more…
