Home design and renovation platform Houzz recently released the winning designs from their Best Of Houzz 2016 which scoured the most popular home designs, interior and exterior, based on community picks from 35 million monthly users.

As Australia heads into its final month of summer, it’s a fitting time to draw inspiration from some of the stunning pool designs across the nation. Houzz Australia editor Jenny Drew noted that “great pools aren’t just reserved for great big backyards”.

“Many of our Best of Houzz winners and indeed other home pros on Houzz are proving that using space-savvy options such as relaxing lap pools and enveloping plunge pools doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice on style and/or glamour.

“Safety and low-maintenance design are obvious priorities, but it’s been great to see a Mediterranean influence coming through in light stone pavers, textured tiles, lush vertical gardens and colourful accessories that make you dream of the Cote D’Azur!”

From a tropical-style pool with faux beach to a luxurious pool house with a waterfall, here are some of the winning designs.
