Special events planned to mark one year to go until Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina

A series of events is planned to mark one year until the start of the Olympic Winter Games in Milano Cortina 2026.
On February 6, 12 months before the Opening Ceremony at the world-famous San Siro Stadium, events will take place across the host regions. These include the unveiling of the OMEGA countdown clock near Piazza del Duomo in the heart of Milan, and the opening of the Milano Cortina 2026 Sports Village in the same location.
Additionally, at the Strehler Theatre in Milan will host a ceremony to officially invite the National Olympic Committees to participate in the upcoming Olympic Winter Games
It also is the day that ticket sales begin. Nearly 350,000 people registered for the first ticketing draw which closed in January and subsequent ticket purchasing opportunities will be offered.
Milano Cortina 2026 will be the first Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games to be planned and organised fully in line with the reforms of the Olympic Agenda 2020 from candidature to delivery.
The 25th edition of the Olympic Winter Games will be the most gender-balanced in history, with a record 47% places allocated for female participation. Around 2,900 athletes are expected to participate from the territories of over 90 National Olympic Committees.
Milano Cortina 2026 runs from 6-22 February, with 116 events in 16 Olympic disciplines taking place in 13 venues, 85% of which (11 out of 13) are existing or temporary.
These Games are expected to also see the return to Olympic competition of NHL players for the first time since Sochi 2014.
They are the third Olympic Winter Games hosted in Italy following Cortina d’Ampezzo in 1956 and Turin in 2006.
