The victorious Hellcats with the winning trophy

The West Bay “Hellcats” left nothing to chance as they breathed fire on the “Cox Colts,” in a thrilling
championship playoff.

Spectators crammed the Ed Bush Playing Field’s mini stadium to witness both teams battle for supremacy in the finals of the Island Air Flag Football Tournament.

After a 6-6 tie at halftime, Hellcats returned for a ferocious showdown,  and eventually ran out 18-12 winners.

The “Hellcat’s victory was secured right in front of their screaming, waving, jubilant supporters.

By “wrangling” the Cox Colts, the West Bay Hellcats have not only cemented their position as the undisputed champions of Flag Football, but are also the historic six time Championship trophy winners.

Both teams looked equal at the start of the game, with neither showing dominance throughout the first half.

It was the “Cox Colts” player, number 87, Wide Receiver, Andrew Frederick, who drew first blood for his team.

Fredericks made a dazzling run through the Hellcat’s line of defense to secure a six points touchdown in the first half of the game.

The “Hellcat’s reply came from a heroic touchdown by Clay “Toast” Coleman to tie the teams at half time.

The Colt’s second touchdown came in after the break from their number 15, Wide receiver/Corner Back, Brad “Habachi” Conolly.

Action from the big game

The “Hellcats” scored their second touchdown through player, Phil Brown, and added a third touchdown through Nicolai Hill.

Mr. Coleman also contributed three spectacular interceptions, in the second half, which helped to deny the Colt’s a chance at the Championship trophy.

Colt’s team Captain, Kevin Solomon, said: “This is the first time that this team is being put together and we got this far and played this well in a finals and that is a lot to be proud of.”
