By Emrys Thakkar From Cruise Hive

Royal Caribbean has announced it will open a new beach club on the eastern Caribbean island of Antigua.

Royal Caribbean’s Royal Beach Club Announced

The major cruise line will open up its first beach club in Antigua and will open up in 2021. The Royal Beach Club will be a half-mile beach experience near Fort James at St. Johns on the Northwest coast of the island.

Royal Caribbean and the government of Antigua and Barbuda have signed a memorandum of understanding with the island’s stunning beach views and the cruise line’s signature experiences.

Michael Bayley, President and CEO, Royal Caribbean International, said:

“The Royal Beach Club Collection is an adventure we cannot wait to reveal to our guests.”

“We have incredible partners in the government of Antigua and Barbuda to bring the first of our collection to life. Together, we are designing an experience that will bring more visitors to these idyllic islands and will create significant economic benefits and opportunities for local employment for years to come.”

No specific details will be released for several months just yet but it won’t be like the recently renovated Perfect Day at CocoCay private island in the Bahamas. Royal Caribbean has hinted the new Royal Beach Club concept will feature regional fare, island-style BBQs and live music, along with unforgettable experiences, including such thrills as wave runners, paddle boarding, snorkeling, a family splash pad and stunning pool with swim-up bar.

This will be one of a collection of new beach clubs from Royal Caribbean and each will be distinct depending on the local culture and region. The Minister of Tourism for Antigua and Barbuda stated: “the economic impact into our economy is projected to be approximately $80 million USD from direct revenue to the Government over the next 30 years and over $1 billion USD in indirect revenue during the same period.”

The project is set to cost the cruise line millions and will also provide employment during the construction phase and once it is up and running in 2021.

Big things are happening for the Caribbean island with a new cruise pier and new investment thanks to an agreement with Global Ports Holdings, you can read more about it right here.
