People from all over Grand Cayman got spooky at the Teacher Redley Powery Library, West Bay, for a Spooktacular Halloween Story Time on 17th October 2015.

Like all other story time events put on by Rotary Central’s Literacy Committee, Spooktacular Halloween Story Time provided children and adults the opportunity to:

Celebrate literacy in the community,

Engage in story telling,

Visit a local library, and

Become a member of the Cayman Islands Public Library Service by registering library card.

Although the story time served various important purposes, it was also a lot of fun. Everyone present were engaged in a variety of activities from story telling to arts and crafts. And, if the activities were not enough stimulation, there were also lots of sights to behold. Halloween decorations littered the walls of the library and a few Rotarians were fully attired in haunting Halloween costumes, however none as scary as Rotarian Zelta Gayle dressed as a wicked witch.

In usual story time style, children got to enjoy an abundance of tasty snacks including cupcakes, juice boxes and other special treats. Children also got goodie bags as they left.

Thanks to all the Rotarians especially Katie Dilbert, PP Mario Ebanks, PP Wil Pineau, PP Neville Smith, PP Sandy McFarlane, President Sandy, Zelta Gayle, Johnae Moss, Jennifer Tippetts, Khaleshia Barboram, Cedric, Dir. Brendan Lee, who worked hard to pull off the one-hour long, fun-filled Halloween story time. We appreciate all who arrived early to set-up and decorate the library, read Halloween themed stories to the children, created crafts, purchased snacks and made goodie bags, as well as, created posters for publicity. A special thanks to Literacy Chairwoman, Katie Dilbert who organised the event and advertised the story time with radio talk show host Dwayne Ebanks on Radio Cayman.
