Police investigate diver death

A Cayman resident has died after he got into difficulties during a dive.

Police were called after a 68 year old man from the West Bay area died on Monday morning.

He had lost consciousness onboard a private boat which was making its way back to the Lobster Pot dock area.

A spokeswoman for the RCIPS said they have launched an investigation into the death.

She added: “About 10.40am Monday police were informed that a 68-year-old man had lost consciousness on a private boat which was making its way back to the Lobster Pot dock.

“It appears that the man had been diving with some friends and, a short time after getting back onboard the boat, he collapsed and lost consciousness.

“On arrival at the dock he was conveyed to the Cayman Islands Hospital, George Town, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.”
