Pirates Week Beach Soccer Open Cup

beachThe Pirates Week Office in conjunction with the Cayman Islands Football Association presents the first ever official beach soccer event. The event, entitled, “Pirates Week Beach Soccer Open Cup” will take place Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1 on the Seven Mile Public Beach as part of the Pirates Week’s fundraising activities in the build-up towards the 2014 Pirates Week Festival.

Playing to spirit of the World Cup season, the “Pirates Week Beach Soccer Open Cup” will feature approximately 30 5-a-side teams playing on 2 pitches. Show up in your numbers to what we know will be a very entertaining and exciting event and you are bound to see your favourite baller, neighbor or coworker in some serious beach soccer action.

We expect participating teams from a number of World Cup qualifying countries, teams from neighbouring islands, as well as government and corporate soccer stars. The ladies will not be outdone and will be well represented in this competition in their all-female teams. Each team can have up to a maximum of 10 persons and registration is only $150 per team which also includes a free beach soccer t-shirt.

There will be trophies for the winners and runners-up, most valuable player, fair play, and other spot prizes.

The event is free of charge to spectators and promises to be a day for soccer fanatics and families to enjoy a fun filled day at the beach. There will also be a Kid’s Corner with snow cones, ice cream, and other tasty treats for sale. Other food and beverages will also be on sale.

The event has already attracted sponsorship from major corporations such as Budweiser, Pepsi, Aquafina, and Redbull. There is still room for more sponsors to come on board, so don’t delay and miss an excellent opportunity to partner with the Pirates Week Office in staging the number one spectators sport in the Cayman Islands that unites all cultures, classes and nationalities.
