  • Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, are currently on a 13-day royal tour of the Caribbean.
  • Yesterday, paparazzi photos of Prince Charles on a beach in Barbados in his swimming trunks were published by several media outlets.
  • According to Britain’s Press Association, “a letter from the prince’s solicitor has been sent to press organisations highlighting his reasonable expectation to privacy.”

Earlier this week, Prince Charles and Camilla kicked off their 13-day tour of the Caribbean, a whirlwind trip in which they will take part in more than 50 engagements on 10 different islands.

But even with a jam-packed scheduled, the royal couple managed to spend a few moments relaxing on the beach in Barbados on Monday. Now, paparazzi photos of Charles and Camilla walking with towels on the beach and of the Prince of Wales enjoying an ocean swim are causing controversy.

According to the Press Association, “a source said the pictures were taken during a brief off-duty moment on a major international tour on behalf of the Government, in circumstances where the couple would have a reasonable expectation of privacy during private down time.”

The prince’s solicitor has reportedly sent a letter to various press organizations who ran the photographs “highlighting his reasonable expectation to privacy.”

Thus far, Clarence House has not commented on the matter.

Hopefully concern over the images won’t derail Charles and Camilla on their historic trip. In a few days time, they’ll be the first members of the royal family to make an official visit to Cuba.
