Ogier boosts Cayman Islands team with partner appointment

Ogier welcomes new partner to Cayman dispute resolution and insolvency team

Ogier in Cayman has boosted its Restructuring and Insolvency practice with the appointment of Marc Kish as a partner in its Cayman Islands team.

Marc joins Ogier’s Caribbean/Asia Dispute Resolution team led by partner Rachael Reynolds, which also includes partners Ulrich Payne in Cayman, Brian Lacy and Nicholas Burkill in BVI, and Ray Ng and Oliver Payne in Hong Kong.

Marc Kish is a specialist in contentious restructuring and insolvency, fraud and asset-tracing and general commercial litigation. His experience spans matters involving investment banks, multinational corporations and financial services professionals from a large number of onshore and offshore jurisdictions.

Chambers Global describes Marc as “someone who is extremely smooth and a good advocate”. Legal 500 says Marc “has seen everything in Cayman and comes into his own in real-time emergency litigation”.

He has advised extensively on complex large-scale liquidations and commercial litigation proceedings involving clawback actions, conflicts of law issues, fraud and related causes of action and complex questions relating to directors’ and trustees’ duties and contractual interpretation. Marc also has extensive experience of acting in insurance coverage disputes and subrogated recoveries.

Rachael Reynolds said: “Ogier is regularly instructed on high profile, major insolvency cases and we are delighted that Marc brings such strength in international restructuring and insolvency work.

“As we continue to grow our team with key hires we are focusing on attracting senior, experienced litigators and advocates who are able to assist on the complex, international matters on which we are regularly instructed.”
In the past 12 months Ogier has acted in some of the largest and most complex restructuring and insolvency cases in the Cayman Islands including acting for the provisional liquidators of the Ocean Rig group of companies in the largest restructuring in the Cayman Islands to date.

Ogier’s Restructuring and Insolvency team covers multiple jurisdictions and includes lawyers who specialise in a range of legal disciplines including corporate, finance, litigation and arbitration. The firm’s Dispute Resolution specialists are members of and frequent speakers for the international restructuring and insolvency organisation INSOL.
