New School Year Begins – Clifton Hunter High School Opens!

The Ministry of Education and Department of Education Services would like to remind the public of the starting dates for Government schools for the 2012/2013 academic year. The details are as follows:

Clifton Hunter High School (CHHS):

Special arrangements are being made for the new Clifton Hunter High School which will welcome its first students this academic year. The opening schedule for CHHS is as follows:

Monday, September 3rd: Induction for Year 7 students only which will run from 8:00am to 12:00pm.

Tuesday, September 4th: School opens for Year 10 and Year 11 students.

Wednesday, September 5th: Year 7 students begin school.

Thursday, September 6th: Year 8 and Year 9 students begin school, completing the entry process.

John Gray High School (JGHS):

Tuesday, August 28th: Induction for Year 7 students only which will run from 8:00am to 12:00pm

Opens to all students on Wednesday August 29th, 2012

JGHS will now be located at the original George Hicks Campus at 73 Academy Way, George Town

Cayman Islands Further Education Centre (CIFEC):

Monday August 27th: Collection of exam results for 2011/12 CIFEC Students

Tuesday August 28th: Collection of exam results for 2011/12 Year 11 Students

Monday September 3rd – Tuesday September 4th: CIFEC Induction day for all students

Wednesday September 5th – Friday September 7th: Workplace advice & guidance for all students

Monday September 10th: Full timetables begin for all students

CIFEC will now be located at the original John Gray Campus at 515 Walkers Road, George Town

Layman E. Scott Senior High School, Cayman Brac:

Open to all students on Wednesday August 29th, 2012

All Primary Schools and Reception Classes, including Cayman Brac and Little Cayman:

Open to all students on Wednesday August 29th, 2012

For those students who utilize the school buses, collection points will remain the same for the 2012/2013 academic year, with the new Clifton Hunter Campus being added to the bus routes.

Parents can refer any questions on opening dates or other school issues to the Department of Education Services at 945-1199.
