From Marketing & Communications | UWI Global Campus

The University of the West Indies (The UWI) Global Campus is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs Tracey Edwards-Greaves as Chief Information Officer (CIO), with effect from August 1, 2025.

She previously served as Chief Information Officer (Ag.) from September 2023.

Tracey Edwards-Greaves

Mrs Edwards-Greaves is an experienced technology professional with over 20 years in information systems, project management, and digital transformation. Her career has spanned higher education and the public sector, where she has provided project leadership, technical expertise, and support for major ICT initiatives that improved efficiency, expanded access to services, and enhanced learning opportunities.

She has been working with The UWI Global Campus since July 2014, first as a Project Manager, where she provided project management support and coordinated the delivery of network and computer equipment. In this role, she also oversaw the implementation of a Cisco-based network infrastructure across the Global Campus Sites under the Strengthening Distance in Education in the Caribbean (SDEC) project. During the 2020/2021 academic year, she played a pivotal role in the implementation of digital learning solutions that addressed disparities in student access during the COVID-19 Pandemic. As CIO and Head of the Computing & Technology Services (CATS) Department, she leads the ICT strategy, governance, and technical support for the Global Campus. Her portfolio includes managing key initiatives, safeguarding data security and driving innovation to enhance the digital experience for staff and students across the Campus.

Prior to working with the Global Campus, Mrs Edwards-Greaves served in project management and systems support roles within the Government of Trinidad & Tobago. In this capacity, she implemented enterprise applications, supported the adoption of Microsoft SharePoint, and contributed to the development of the first online self-service housing application system in the public sector.

Mrs Edwards-Greaves holds a Master of Science in Project Management, a Master of Science in Computer Science, and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science (Double Major) from The UWI. Her academic foundation is strengthened by her Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute, as well as credentials in Scrum and IT Project Management. These qualifications have equipped her with the analytical, strategic, and operational competencies to design, implement, and evaluate complex ICT solutions.

Dr Francis O. Severin, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal, The UWI Global Campus, reflects on the hidden talent of Mrs Edwards-Greaves, who was quite happy to quietly perform her duties in her substantive role on the Campus, providing “quiet” but confident leadership when required. “I am happy that her competence, abilities and qualifications were brought to my attention. We were looking for someone who could enjoy the confidence and respect of especially the senior colleagues in the Computing and Technology Services (CATS) Division of the Campus. We were also searching for someone who could fill the gap left by the departure of the long-serving Campus CIO. In Tracey, we found our person. She has risen to the occasion and comports herself well in the post as though she has been doing this job for a while. We are happy to serve alongside her in the Senior Management Team. Her contributions are valued.”

The Principal and Senior Management Team congratulate Mrs Edwards-Greaves on her appointment and wish her every success in this role.
