UPDATED: Motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian, 23 February

The victim in the below incident has been transferred to the Health City medical facility for further treatment. His condition has improved however his injuries remains in critical condition, with very serious life-threatening injuries.

The investigation into this matter progresses.

Just before 8:30AM this morning, 23 February, Police and other emergency personnel were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communications Centre to a motor vehicle collision.

The collision took place when the driver of a purple Honda Accord, which was headed west on Smith Road, George Town toward Anthony Drive from Bobby Thompson Way, lost control of the vehicle and as a result, the vehicle left the roadway, and struck a pedestrian who was on the side walk headed in the opposite direction. The vehicle then collided with a nearby house located on Smith Road.

The pedestrian was tended to by the Paramedics and was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital where he appears to be in critical condition and is believed to have sustained life threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle does not appear to have sustained any injuries as a result of the incident however; he was also taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital for examination.

The matter is currently under police investigation.
