Miss Latecia Buenca Bush is new Miss Teen Cayman Islands 2018-2019!

16 year old Latecia Buenca Bush is the new Miss Teen Cayman Islands 2018-2019!

Saturday evening August, 25th saw four beautiful and talented young ladies compete for the coveted Crown but Latecia Bush led the competition to become the winner.   The competition was extremely tight but Miss Bush impressed the Judges by demonstrating etiquette skills from the pageant training and with the benefit of public speaking coaching provided by the Cayman Islands Toast Masters, she gave an eloquent presentation before the three judges.

Miss Bush was poised and appeared confident as she walked the stage even though she admitted later on to being “scared to death”.  She has experienced many firsts on her journey to being crowned Miss Teen.  Miss Bush had never travelled on an airplane until her cultural and historical visit to Cayman Brac a couple weeks before the pageant.  She was excited to have made that first journey and hopes one day to visit New York as she says from what she has read, it has an expansive Arts and Culture scene which she would like to explore.

In addition to winning the crown Miss Bush also won awards for Academic Excellence, Miss Photogenic and Most Improved.  She becomes a Brand Ambassador for Digicel the major pageant sponsor.

The evening also saw the other three contestants, each receiving various awards.

17 year old Caitlin Seymour of Bodden Town is First Runner up.  She received awards for Best Smile, Miss Personality and Best Talent.  The Miss Personality award is decided by all contestants.

16 year old Soleyah Greene of George Town is Second runner up and received the award for Best in Swimwear.

17 year old Aliyah Harrison of West Bay was named Third Runner Up and received the People’s Choice Award with over 2,900 votes in her favour!   She receives a 1 year Ambassadorship from the pageant’s major sponsor, Digicel.

These 4 young ladies are not only beautiful but have received honours awards from their various schools.  Each has identified the educational and career path she wishes to follow and the Miss Teen Pageant committee wishes them every success.

The winner, Miss Latecia Bush in addition to various prizes will receive a 4 year scholarship award from the Ministry of Education.

The Miss Teen Pageant Committee thanks all sponsors and families but a big thank you to a most participative audience.    It did not matter who they came to support, the audience, through their responses showed appreciation for all the contestants.

Thanks also to the Judges Ms. Sophie Gough, Mr Nik O’Connor and Mrs. Javana Phillips-Broad; Talliers Mr Arek Nicholson, Mr Phillip Bodden, Ms. Cheryl Branch and Ms. Leticia Lawrence; Auditors Ms. Yolanda Clarke and Ms. Shakira Cox, who had the enormous task of tabulating and cross checking all scores for each contestant for the evening to provide the final results.
