Ministry of Planning, Lands, Agriculture, Housing and Infrastructure Announces Partnership with Miss Universe Cayman Islands to Promote Local Food Security
George Town, Cayman Islands – 16 October 2025 – The Ministry of Planning, Lands, Agriculture, Housing and Infrastructure (PLAHI), with the Department of Agriculture (DoA), is pleased to announce a new partnership with Miss Universe Cayman Islands, Tahiti Seymour, to raise awareness about the importance of food security across the Cayman Islands.
The collaboration forms part of Tahiti Seymour’s advocacy campaign, “Beyond The Crown: Zero Hunger,” which highlights the importance of food security in the Cayman Islands and promotes greater awareness and engagement among youth and women in agriculture.
The initiative aligns closely with the Cayman Islands Food and Nutrition Security Policy 2022–2036, which seeks to ensure that all Caymanians and residents have access to safe, affordable, and nutritious food while strengthening the resilience of the national food system.
Honourable Johany “Jay” Ebanks, Minister of Planning, Lands, Agriculture, Housing and Infrastructure, emphasised the critical role of food security in the nation’s long-term sustainability:
“Food security is a national priority. Having access to healthy, locally grown food strengthens our Islands’ independence and community wellbeing. We are proud to partner with Miss Universe Cayman Islands, Tahiti Seymour, to inspire more youth and women to see the opportunities in agriculture and to advance our food security goals.’’
Through a panel discussion and content featuring Ministry officials, the partnership will showcase local efforts to enhance food security and encourage participation in resilient agricultural development across the Islands.
Tahiti Seymour’s project, “Beyond The Crown: Zero Hunger,” will culminate on October 21, 2025, and will be showcased live during the Miss Universe 2025 competition in Thailand, with awards announced on November 14 at the Preliminary Competition and the Final Show and Coronation on November 21.
Through this campaign, the Ministry of PLAHI and the Department of Agriculture aim to amplify the Cayman Islands’ voice on the global stage and inspire fellow Miss Universe delegates to join in the mission toward zero hunger and sustainable food systems.
The Ministry of PLAHI congratulates Tahiti Seymour on her achievements and wishes her the very best as she represents the Cayman Islands at Miss Universe 2025, continuing to make our islands proud.
