2008 marked the 10 year anniversary of Brenda Tibbetts Lund passing, after her courageous battle with Breast Cancer. Even before her diagnosis, Brenda had been active in the Cayman Islands community promoting breast health.

Having sponsored the annual Brenda Tibbetts Lund Walk/Run in her honour, Kim Lund wanted to do something special in 2008. The idea for a gala dinner raising funds for breast cancer projects in the community was born. Realizing the enormous demands for funding, Kim Lund and James Bovell, Owners/Brokers at RE/MAX Cayman Islands, decided to found a not-for-profit charity and make the Breast Cancer Gala Dinner premier annual fundraising event. The Gala Dinner’s have become one of the most anticipated and attended pink tie events on the Island.

The Breast Cancer Foundation was established in September 2009 by its directors Kim Lund, James Bovell and John Broadbent. The Foundation is a charitable organization registered with the Cayman Islands Government. The Foundation was created to provide financial support to several local charities working in the field of breast cancer education and providing aid for treatment costs. Some of these benefiting charities include the Cayman Islands Cancer Society, The Lions Club of Tropical Gardens and Bosom Buddies, who diligently work towards awareness, prevention and the treatment of breast cancer.
