Last severe weather advisory from National Weather Service

The Cayman Islands National Weather Service issued their last severe weather bulletin on the current system in the Cayman area.

Satellite pictures show a large area of cloudiness with embedded thunderstorms moving Northeastward across the Cayman area. Weather models indicate the possibility of 1 to 3 inches of rainfall over the Cayman area, especially over the Sister Islands during the next 24 hours.

Grand Cayman residents can expect a gradual decrease in rainfall from this evening.

Continued flooding of low-lying areas is expected mainly over the Sister Islands during the next 24 hours and residents are urged to continue to take necessary precautions.

Additionally, southerly winds of 15 to 20 knots and rough seas are expected to continue over our area. Higher gusts in and around heavy showers will continue. Small crafts should continue to exercise caution over open waters.

Inspector Tahal of the Marine Unit has advised that all vessels should exercise caution and to avoid venturing out into open waters. They should also seek safe harbour where possible.
