Lancer wins Equestrian crown

MARIEL Lancer copped the TT Equestrian Association (TTEA) 2014 High League Level Championship trophy at the annual Super League Final which rode off at Saddle Valley Stables, , on Sunday.

Lancer showed class in her performance while Amber Thompson displayed similar promise to claim this year’s Reserve title. Meanwhile in the Mid League division, Hadley Rahael rode the attractive grey warm-blooded Viking Thunder to victory in the opening event. This win also ensured that Rahael was crowned 2014 champion.

Additionally, there was close competition in the Low League Level as Sydney Navarro scored with two clear rounds on the piebald pony, Morocco. Navarro eventually captured the category’s top prize over on Mr Wings who had one rail down over the two rounds. Brown took home the Reserve trophy.

Meanwhile, the TTEA achieved several notable successes in 2014. In September, Team TT won the Caribbean Equestrian Association’s Junior Jumping Competition at the Trinidad-leg of that competition. Adelle Stollmeyer captured the Champion 16 years and under title while Jordanne Brown claimed top honours in the 14 years and under level. Stollmeyer was also awarded Reserve champion at the Jamaica leg in November. Team TT went on to win the Champion Team Trophy.

In dressage, the senior team finished in runner-up position behind winners Bermuda at the Caribbean Mini Dressage Challenge in June. That team comprised of Anja Taylor on Out of the Blue, Patrice Stollmeyer on Monte Carlo and Amy Costelloe on Quiet Bid.

Barbados was third while placed fourth. Also in dressage, Rahael held on to bronze in the overall standings at the Children of the Americas Dressage Invitational in the . This event saw riders from the Caribbean Islands, Central America, Canada and the competing in Boston at the Bears Spot Farm.

The TTEA’s calendar rides off once more in early January with the trials for the CEA’s Junior Jumping Competitions’ Barbados and Cayman Islands’ legs which will be held on January 18. TT’s top junior riders will be vying for a coveted place on the national team.
