Key senior appointment for Carey Olsen Hong Kong

Leading offshore law firm Carey Olsen has appointed Arigen Liang as a counsel in its Hong Kong dispute resolution and insolvency practice as part of the firm’s continued growth in Asia.
Ms Liang is fluent in Chinese and English. She joins Carey Olsen from another offshore law firm in Hong Kong having qualified in Singapore, England and Wales and the British Virgin Islands.
Ms Liang has worked in Hong Kong for over five years and specialises in shareholder and contentious trust disputes, security enforcements, non-performing loans and cross-border insolvency transactions. She also has extensive experience in dealing with Norwich Pharmacal and Beddoe applications for high net worth families and individuals.
Prior to joining Carey Olsen, she was involved in several high profile matters in Singapore including the restructuring of Continental Chemicals Corporation Pte Ltd which involved complex cross-border legal issues and entities incorporated in Singapore, BVI, Bermuda, Seychelles, Thailand and China.
Carey Olsen’s managing partner in Hong Kong, Michael Makridakis, said: “With the firm’s recent expansion into Hong Kong we have seen an increase in the demand for our offshore legal services amongst existing and new Asian clients, particularly in the areas of restructuring and insolvency, including shareholders’ disputes.”
“Arigen’s experience in high value, complex shareholders’ disputes coupled with her experience in restructuring and insolvency work in both Hong Kong and other offshore jurisdictions makes her an excellent addition to the firm. Furthermore,  her dual language skills will be a real boost to the firm’s client offering in the region.”
Carey Olsen opened its Hong Kong office in November 2016 following the successful launch of its Singapore office in October last year.
