The dancehall superstar’s sixth studio album Full Frequency also debuted at #1 in Japan and made Mexico’s top five.

Jamaica’s dancehall superstar Sean Paul has scored another landmark achievement with his fifth # 1 reggae album debut on the Billboard Reggae charts for his sixth studio album Full Frequency.

Full Frequency was released last month on Atlantic/VP Records and was anchored by lead singles Want Dem All (featuring Konshens) and Riot (featuring Damian Marley), the latter of which went on to cop the #1 song on the Jamaica Music Countdown chart.

The album also features appearances by Nicki Minaj, 2Chainz, Juicy J, Prince Royce, Iggy Azalea and other artistes.

The project also debuted as the #1 album in Japan while charting high in multiple territories including top 5 in Mexico. Ahead of the release, Paul embarked on a US promo tour including a performance on the Arsenio Hall Show.

Sean Paul is the first Jamaican artiste to have an album cover with an interactive app. This free app allows fans to access music, videos, tour dates and interact with the artiste through his social media sites. Full Frequency through the Layar app allows fans to scan the album artwork with their android or IOS device and experience Sean Paul content popping out on their screens.

According to Paul’s manager Steve Wilson, “Sean Paul is the only Jamaican I know thus far and one of the few international artistes that has ever incorporated an interactive component to their album cover.” Artistes that have added an interactive app to their projects include, Jay Z, Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber.

Sean Paul’s Full Frequency album’s Augmented Reality feature was designed and developed by Jamaican born Kai Williams and Khaliq King of Zipteq.

“We decided to use Layar as the platform for the interactivity of Sean Paul’s album because of its reach. Sean Paul’s fans spread across the globe and Layar boasts the largest #1 download of an AR app world,” Williams told Headline Entertainment.

“Our vision was to create a dynamic portal, one with ‘moving parts’ to keep the fans engaged. We wanted it to still look and feel like the album cover but have it come to life,” Williams explained.

Full Frequency joins Paul’s collection of classic albums that includes the multi-platinum, Grammy-winning Dutty Rock and platinum hit The Trinity, alongside Stage One, Imperial Blaze and Tomahawk Technique.
