KINGSTON, Jamaica — Prime Minister-designate Andrew Holness is scheduled to be sworn in at King’s House in St Andrew on Thursday.

The ceremony is set to begin at 4:00 pm.

Kamina Johnson-Smith, Jamaica Labour Party spokesperson, confirmed the date of the swearing-in ceremony for OBSERVER ONLINE a short while ago.

The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) today confirmed that Director of Elections Orrette Fisher had advised the Governor General, Sir Patrick Allen, that the JLP had won majority of the seats in last Thursday’s General Election.

The Electoral Commission of Jamaica (EOJ) also announced that the B21 forms, from the 63 returning officers indicating which candidate has won the respective seats, and the writ of election for each constituency have been sent to the clerk of the Houses of Parliament for the swearing in of the Members of Parliament, which is expected next week.

The swearing-in of the new government has been delayed by the slow final vote count by the ECJ/EOJ which began on Friday morning and, especially, due to the special attention paid to ballot boxes from the Western St Thomas constituency for which the counting did not conclude until Monday night.
