(George Town, Cayman Islands) — Mr. Isaac Douglas Rankine is pleased to announce that he will be running for office as an independent candidate for East End in the 2017 General Elections.

On Saturday, 4 March 2017 Mr. Rankine officially kicked-off his political campaign with a social function on Seaview Drive in East End. The social was a meet and greet giving constituents the opportunity to interact with Mr. Rankine and was well attended, with some 200 persons in attendance.

In his address to attendees, Mr. Rankine stated, “Over two and a half years ago I started on a journey, and this evening ladies and gentlemen I respectfully offer myself as an independent candidate for the district of East End. I humbly apply to you, the people of East End, to be your representative in the Legislative Assembly. This seat, as it is commonly referred to, is at the pleasure of you the people of East End. No one owns this seat; the only thing one would be entitled to is one vote.”

Mr. Rankine continued, “As an Independent candidate, I am prepared to work on your behalf with the democratically elected government to ensure that East End is no longer perceived to be the district that is left behind.”

In closing his address Mr. Rankine stated, “Over the next two and a half months I will continue to discuss in more detail the issues that affect you, and solutions I would implement. I will be starting with small yard meetings where I will be able to sit and listen and also give you the opportunity to ask me questions as it relates to concerns you may have.”
