Irish weather: Sun-drenched Ireland to be hotter than IBIZA as Caribbean plume sends temperatures soaring to 17C

BY ANITA MCSORLEY From Irish Mirror

But will it last?

The chilly spells have given way to Spring-like temperatures over the last few days.

And forecasters say a Caribbean plume is set to send temperatures rocketing next week.

Weathermen are predicting highs of 17C on Monday – which would make Ireland hotter than Ibiza, Rome and Barcelona.

But the mild and dry weather is not expected to last, as it’ll turn colder and more unsettled from Thursday.

Today though, it’ll be a dry and bright day for most with some scattered showers in Atlantic coastal counties.

Temperatures will range between 10C and 12C before dropping to 2C overnight.

Looking ahead to next week, Met Eireann said: “Monday will start off mostly cloudy with some patchy drizzle in places. It will brighten up during the morning to give a very mild and mainly dry day with some sunny spells.

“Cloud will thicken along west and north coasts with some patchy drizzle at times. Highest temperatures of 13C to 17C with moderate west to southwest breezes.

“Tuesday will start cloudy, with patches of rain and drizzle spreading to many parts – though amounts will be very small and some parts will remain largely, if not completely dry.

“Brighter weather, with just a few scattered showers, will develop in the northwest and will extend slowly southeastwards later with maximum temperatures of 12C to 15C

“Wednesday will be dry in most areas, with some sunny breaks developing, but a little patchy drizzle or mist is possible along west and northwest coasts.

“It’ll be mild, with maximum temperatures of 13C to 16C in mostly light to moderate southerly winds.”
