TRINIDAD and Tobago’s murder toll jumped yesterday [Jan7] as four men were shot dead in separate incidents in less than 24 hours.

The bloodshed included a gunman who shot a suspected gang leader in broad daylight then was himself killed by bullets as he stood over his victim at Belmont.

The toll around the same time last year was 11.

GENEVA – The International Labour Organization (ILO) is to launch its report, World Employment and Social Outlook – Trends 2016, on Tuesday, 19 January.

This year’s edition includes a forecast of global unemployment levels in developed, emerging and developing economies, with detailed charts and numbers. The projections take into account the slowdown in the global economy and other structural factors that shape employment patterns.

The report also focuses on the share of vulnerable employment as well as on the scale of the informal economy.

It provides policy guidance to boost decent work opportunities around the globe.

The Grand Court jury report time (not the date) has been changed. The date remains the same.

The District Committee of Cayman Brac presents the Full Moon Sock Hop on Saturday (23 Jan) on public beach from 630pm until midnight. Call 916.3960 for tickets, tables and reservations.

 

January Events at Camana Bay

The New Year starts off on an exciting note with a carnival launch celebration and this month also features Cayman’s biggest culinary event, Taste of Cayman. There are many enrichment activities, including a free juicing demonstration and a chance to express your creativity with an open mic night of poetry and readings. Let’s not forget, this is the month to get back on the healthy track and we have two exciting fitness challenges happening at Camana Bay.
