You have to break codes to get cocktails at this spy-themed bar

The Bletchley is a spy-themed London bar where you have to crack codes to order drinks.

To do that, you use imitation World War 2 Enigma machines which generate a unique code for every “agent.” Orders are then transmitted via radio to the bar.

The venue is inspired by Bletchley Park, the site where British mathematician and codebreaker Alan Turing and his team used to crack German codes during World War 2.

Anti-Corruption police arrest two more Cayman Islands Immigration officials

A statement released by the Anti-Corruption Commission today (Wed 31) said its own investigators along with RCIPS officers have arrested a man from the Bodden Town area and a woman from Spotts Newlands, both aged 42, who are now being questioned at the Prisoner Detention Centre in Fairbanks in connection with the ongoing corruption investigation into the immigration department.

In January 7 other persons were arrested in connection with bribery and corruption offences at the Cayman Islands Immigration Department.

Trinidad rattled by earthquake

PORT-OF-SPAIN, May 29 2017 – An earthquake with a magnitude 4.0 rocked sections of the country late Sunday.

The Seismic Research Centre at the University of the West Indies (UWI), St. Augustine campus, reports that the quake, which occurred at 7:06 p.m. (local time) was felt widely in Trinidad.

The tremor, with a depth of 3km, was located at Latitude 10.51 degrees North and Longitude 61.86 West.

There were no reports of injuries or damage.

Sheriff Gets 4 Years In Prison For Running E-Cigarette Business Behind Bars

If there’s one thing we’ve learned from movies and TV shows about prison, it’s that cigarettes are a popular currency behind bars, and apparently the same holds true for e-cigarettes. But if you’re a sheriff caught running a lucrative e-cig business for prisoners, you could end up one yourself.

Former Rutherford County, TN, sheriff Robert Arnold was recently sentenced to 50 months in prison on federal corruption charges stemming from his part in an alleged get-rich-quick scheme that involved selling electronic cigarettes to jail inmates through jail employees.

According to the Department of Justice, Arnold admitted to using his official position as Sheriff to operate and gain financially from a company called JailCigs.

He also admitted that he concealed his involvement in the company and misrepresented the benefits that Rutherford County was supposedly receiving from JailCigs.

Additionally, Arnold admitted that he personally received over $66,000 from the company, and that he lied about his income from – and knowledge of – JailCigs when he was confronted by local media in April 2015.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that the scheme hinged on Arnold using his position to allow JailCig’s e-cigarettes to enter the Rutherford County jail as non-contraband and to be distributed by county employees.

In growing the business Arnold and his co-conspirators allegedly persuaded other jails to take part in the scheme by offering to pay $5 for every e-cigarette sold.

In addition to being sentenced to 50 months in prison, Arnold was ordered to pay $52,500 in restitution and to forfeit $66,790, an amount equal to all proceeds he received from sales at the Rutherford County jail.

Two co-conspirators in the scheme have already entered guilty pleas to similar charges and will be sentenced in September.

About the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands

Established in 1996, the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands (NGCI) is the country’s leading visual arts museum and education centre, charged with promoting and encouraging the appreciation and practice of the visual arts in the Cayman Islands. This mission is achieved through exhibitions, education/outreach programmes, school tours, community festivals, and ongoing research projects. Holding up to six exhibitions annually at our central exhibition space, and satellite venues around Grand Cayman and the Sister Islands, the curatorial team strives to create a balance between exhibitions of quality Caymanian artwork with art from further afield. This is achieved by working with a broad cross-section of artists and ranging from site-specific work to more traditional gallery-based projects.

NGCI Site & Facility

The new National Gallery building is a 9,000 sq. ft. facility situated on the western side of the Esterley Tibbetts Bypass, close to Camana Bay town centre and adjacent to the Harquail Theatre. The new development is home to two temporary exhibition areas, an art studio, library, auditorium, sculpture garden, Art Café and Gift Shop, and a permanent gallery for the Cayman Islands National Art Collection.

As part of the National Gallery’s long-term business plan, an auditorium and multi-purpose event space have been incorporated into the design providing flexible venue options for conferences.
