Miami, FL – January 20, 2017 – HBO announced the debut of its new original production, Big Little Lies, on Sunday, February 19th at 21hrs AST*, exclusively onHBO. The series stars Oscar-winning actresses Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman, along with a stellar cast including Shailene Woodley, Zoë Kravitz, Alexander Skarsgård and Adam Scott. Created and written by Emmy®-winner David E. Kelley, and directed by the Oscar®-nominated Jean-Marc Vallée, Big Little Lies is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Liane Moriarty.

The seven-episode limited series Big Little Lies is a subversive, darkly comedic drama that weaves a tale of murder and mischief as it explores society’s myth of perfection and the contradictions that exist beneath our idealized façade of marriage, sex, parenting and friendship.

In the tranquil seaside town of Monterey, California, nothing is quite as it seems. Doting moms, successful husbands, adorable children, beautiful homes: What lies will be told to keep their perfect worlds from unraveling? Told through the eyes of three mothers – Madeline, Celeste and Jane – Big Little Lies paints a picture of a town fueled by rumors and divided into the haves and have-nots, exposing the conflicts, secrets and betrayals that compromise relationships between husbands and wives, parents and children, and friends and neighbors.

The cast also includes performances by James Tupper, Jeffrey Nordling, Santiago Cabrera, P.J. Byrne and Virginia Kull.

Author Liane Moriarty, who serves in a producing capacity on the series, is an Australian novelist whose other bestsellers include “Truly Madly Guilty,” “What Alice Forgot,” “Three Wishes,” “The Hypnotist’s Love Story” and “The Husband’s Secret,” as well as a line of children’s books. Reese Witherspoon and her Pacific Standard production banner, along with Nicole Kidman and her Blossom Films production banner, optioned the film and television rights to the novel.

Big Little Lies was executive produced by Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, David E. Kelley, Bruna Papandrea, Per Saari, Jean-Marc Vallée, Nathan Ross and Gregg Fienberg, and is produced by Barbara A. Hall and Liane Moriarty. The series is a Pacific Standard/Blossom Films/David E. Kelley Productions production forHBO Films.

Big Little Lies was filmed in Monterey, Carmel, Malibu, Los Angeles, Culver City, Pasadena and Altadena, California.
