Guyana: Venezuelan killed during attempt to steal food, other valuables

By Carlos Moore From Guyana Guardian

A Venezuelan national, who is believed to be part of a group that regularly crosses the border at nights to steal food and other valuables from mining camps was killed last night by security personnel of a mining operation after he was caught trying to escape from the scene.

Reports reaching the Guyana Guardian revealed that the Venezuelan man died on the spot while his other cohorts managed to escape into the thick bush. The incident occurred at Black Water in the Potaro-Supernam area.

Commander of the Division Kevin Adonis confirmed that police officers had left for the location this morning to launch an investigation. But because of the high level of vegetation, it could take them around 5 hours or more to reach to the location.
