Guyana: Four killed in highway crash

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, Jan 05 2017 – Investigations are being conducted into a motor vehicle accident that led to the death of four people.

The crash took place late Wednesday on the Linden Soesdyke Highway.

Police say that the cars were travelling along the highway in opposite directions, when there was a head-on collision.

Three people died on the spot – they have been identified as Dextroy Griffith, David Primus and Raul Aaron.

The fourth victim who died while undergoing surgery early Thursday, has been identified as Lauron Mendonca.

Two others, including the wife of one of the dead men, are still in the hospital with multiple injuries.

With heavy rainfall pounding the country almost daily for the past two weeks, drivers have been urged to cut back on their speed and exercise more caution along the highway.
