Guyana: Crime Chief Paul Williams removed in mystery shakeup at the GPF

In a shocking shake-up within the Guyana Police Force, Crime Chief Paul Williams was removed from his position and is now assigned to the Force’s Administration.

Williams who has been recently promoted to the position of Deputy Commissioner of Police had been holding the Crime Chief portfolio since last year, after the demotion of Wendell Blanhun.

Williams has been credited for solving of a number of cold cases, and for having a more practical approach to the investigation of high profile criminal cases.

Up to a few weeks ago, he was widely touted as a likely candidate for the position of Commissioner of Police, which has been now bestowed upon Leslie James. However, it remains unclear as to why Williams was transferred.

As of today, Mr. Lyndon Alves been named as the new Crime Chief.
