Guardian General rebrands to Guardian Group

Cayman Islands Rebrand LaunchGeorge Town, Grand Cayman, September 16, 2014: Guardian General Insurance Limited (GGIL) which traded as NEMWIL was rebranded on, Friday September 12, 2014, to Guardian Group at an Official Launch Event “Gearing for the future: Re-Branding and learning from Ivan” at The Dart Auditorium, The National Gallery of the Cayman Islands, Esterley Tibbetts Highway Grand Cayman. The Guardian Group brand was launched in Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Jamaica and the Dutch Caribbean in July 2013. The Cayman Islands are the fourth of ten such rebrand exercises that will take place across the Eastern and Northern Caribbean in 2014.

In the past year Guardian Group embarked on a major strategic initiative and rebranded all its subsidiaries across the English and Dutch Caribbean. Guardian Group is the leading financial services and insurance group in the Caribbean, with a product suite that includes Life and Health insurance and Pension products, all classes of General Insurance and Asset Management. As Guardian Group, we focus on our core business in our core markets as one team under a unified brand. We have also reinforced our customer focus through a new mission to operate as “one integrated, customer-centric Group – a Group –of companies which sees the world through its customers’ eyes and delivers its brand promise consistently at every customer touch point”. It is our vision to be “the customer’s preferred choice in financial planning and insurance”.

Guardian has a long legacy in the Cayman Islands through its partners Fidelity Insurance (Cayman) Limited when they became agents for NEMWIL in 1990 and Balderamos Insurance Services Limited when they began in 1996 with NEMWIL. In 2004, when the Cayman Islands suffered the devastating effects of Hurricane Ivan, under the NEMWIL brand Guardian General trading as NEMWIL steadfastly and reliably paid out almost US $150 million in claims. Guardian weathered the storm of Hurricane Ivan and with the rest of the Cayman Islands remained committed to rebuilding.

As a sponsor of the photographic exhibition “Ivan Remembered” at the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands, today’s launch event commemorates the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Ivan and Guardian’s role in helping to support and rebuild the lives of those affected. The experience of that major hurricane also provided many lessons for the insurance industry and Mr. David I. Jamison, Executive Director, Axis International/York Risk Services Group will share a unique perspective of the insurer, leveraging learnings from the Ivan experience. Mr. Jamison has established and managed teams of adjusters handling claims for local Insurers and Lloyds/Reinsurers for numerous catastrophes including Hurricanes Gilbert, Andrew, Luis, Marilyn, Georges and Ivan. Guardian General Insurance Limited under its predecessor NEMWIL weathered Hurricane Ivan with its clients, honoured all claims and today remains one of the leading insurers in the market.
