  • Full European range tested by the renowned and respected safety organisation has a five-star rating

FRANKFURT, GermanySept.7, 2022: Genesis Motor Europe can reveal that the GV60 has been awarded a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating.

GV60, the brand’s first dedicated electric vehicle, arrived in studios earlier in June 2022 and has now secured the maximum five-star rating from Euro NCAP, Europe’s leading independent safety testing organisation.

The news follows similar top scores for G70 and G80 saloon, G70 Shooting Brake, GV70 and GV80 SUV, which means all of Genesis’s European range tested by the Euro NCAP organisation is now five-star rated.

As with the other Genesis models, GV60 scored highly against the key Euro NCAP assessment criteria. Notably, in the areas of Adult Occupant, Child Occupant, Vulnerable Road Users and Safety Assist. Notably, the GV60 returned excellent results of 89%, 87% and 88% respectively.

During crash testing, Euro NCAP noted the impact stability and protection afforded by the GV60’s passenger compartment during frontal collisions and the side barrier test, scoring strongly in both areas. The all-electric GV60 was also highly rated for child occupant protection, both for those in child seats and older children.

Particular praise was reserved for the brand’s patented centre airbag, which can inflate in just 0.03 seconds and helps to protect the driver and front passenger in the event of a side impact.

In the Safety Assist category, the GV60’s many advanced driver safety systems allowed it to record high scores across the board. For instance, its Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) system attracted top marks for both its effectiveness in avoiding car-to-car collisions and its sensitivity in warning drivers about vulnerable road users, such as cyclists and pedestrians.

Lawrence Hamilton, Managing Director for Genesis Motor Europe, commented: “We are delighted and proud that the GV60 has achieved a five-star Euro NCAP rating. To be awarded this highest possible rating is a clear demonstration of  our unwavering commitment to first class safety systems for customers.

“Euro NCAP is a globally renowned organisation and has long been trusted by customers to provide independent and impartial safety advice. For Genesis to score a maximum five-star rating not just with the GV60 but with all our other models, is testament to the expertise of our engineers and the wide-ranging active and passive safety assistance technologies that Genesis offers.”

Genesis GV60 starts from £47,005 and is available in a choice of three all-electric powertrains (Premium, Sport and Sport Plus). Order books for the Electrified G80 are now open after launching earlier this summer, with pre-orders for the Electrified GV70 open for customers able to place a fully refundable deposit either in person at the Genesis studio in Westfield, London or online at https://www.genesis.com/uk

With eight airbags, and more than 20 driver assistance systems, the Genesis GV60 offers an impressive level of safety features. Included across the range are:

Highway Driving Assist II (HDA II)This system helps assist the driver in a wider variety of situations than before, including during lane change maneuvers when the turn signal is used, and when others merge in front of you.
Smart Cruise Control with Machine Learning (SCC-ML)A world first, SCC-ML incorporates artificial intelligence (AI) within the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) feature that helps the car to independently learn the driving characteristics of its driver.
Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA)This system may help automatically bring all-new GV60 to a stop in certain situations where there is a risk of collision with an approaching vehicle detected on the left or right side of the intersection. GV60 may also help detect potential collision risks in certain situations where a pedestrian is sensed in close proximity to the vehicle while in motion, for example.
Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance Assist (BCA)BCA is essentially a Blind Spot Monitor with active capabilities. BCA helps reduce the chance of potential impact with a moving vehicle and may alert the driver if a vehicle is detected in the driver’s blind-spot.
Lane Follow Assist (LFA)Helps maintain vehicle position in the center of its lane by recognizing both lane markers and vehicles traveling ahead.
Junction Turning (JT)Automatically applies the brakes if an oncoming vehicle is detected in the opposite lane when making a left turn at a junction.
Junction Crossing (JC)Automatically applies the brakes if a vehicle crossing from the left or the right is detected when entering a junction.
Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance-Assist (RCCA)Warns the driver of vehicles coming from the left or right while backing up and automatically brakes if a collision seems imminent.
