Fraudulent Investment Advertisement Circulating on Cayman Social Media

Members of the public are advised of an online fraudulent investment scheme currently circulating on social media. The advertisement falsely uses the likeness of the Parliamentary Secretary, Hon. Wayne Panton, MP, alongside claims of a government-endorsed investment platform guaranteeing a return of $2,300.00 per week.
This advertisement is entirely false and misleading. It invites individuals to “invest $250 today” with the promise of receiving immediate bank deposits. These tactics are typical of online scams designed to obtain funds and sensitive financial information under false pretences.
The public are advised to exercise caution with any on line ‘get rich quick’ schemes, especially if supported by local high level Government individuals.
The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS), in collaboration with the Cayman Islands Government, including the Ministry of Financial Services and Commerce and the Cyber Security Unit, are actively investigating and working to address the matter.
If you believe you have been targeted or have shared personal or financial details in response to this scam, do not engage with the account further, but please contact your financial institution immediately and report the matter to the RCIPS Financial Crime Unit during business hours at 949-8797.
