Franklin Graham: Booker obviously doesn’t know Power of Prayer

Franklin Graham, the president of Samaritan’s Purse, has criticized Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., for dismissing the phrase “thoughts and prayers” when used in response to gun violence.

Booker said in an interview with CNN last week that mass shootings are “a uniquely American problem,” and said offering “thoughts and prayers” after a shooting “is just bulls–t.”

He added, “I’m sorry to say it as a man of faith, but I was taught that faith without works is dead. We’re going to bring a fight with everything that I have to solve this problem because it’s solvable, and we know it.”

Graham first responded to Booker on Facebook, writing, “When people have lost loved ones, they need the comfort and strength that can only come from God. The solution for the problem in this country is much deeper than more laws.”

He told Fox News on Monday, “it’s obvious” Booker “doesn’t understand the power of prayer. God hears prayer. He understands prayer.”

Graham added, “you can take all the guns in the world and collect them, people are still going to murder . . . The world has a sin problem. And only God can fix that. You can have all the laws you want. You can take all the guns and put them in Central Park and have a mountain of guns. The human heart has to change . . . And so I just believe that we need to turn our hearts to God and let him transform our hearts and change our hearts.”
