Former Cayman Islands Immigration Assistant Chief Officer named WORC Deputy Director of Compliance

GRAND CAYMAN, CAYMAN ISLANDS; 26 September 2018

Workforce Opportunities & Residency Cayman (WORC) has announced the appointment of the former Assistant Chief Immigration Officer, Mr. Jeremy Scott, as Deputy Director of the new department.

Mr. Scott has 21 years of experience with the Cayman Islands Immigration Department in a number of roles. In his position with WORC, he will have oversight of all compliance activities, both with WORC’s internal operations and with its external stakeholders.

Mr. Scott said he was “honoured” and was looking forward to using his Immigration experience: “Having a professional background within the Department of Immigration, I am looking forward to the positive contributions I can make to the overall delivery of service mandated of this new government department.”

WORC Interim Director, Sharon Roulstone said: “Jeremy’s longstanding career at Immigration shows commitment and loyal dedication. His vast background with Immigration, particularly in the compliance field makes him a valuable addition to our growing team.”

Mr. Scott will have oversight of decisions made on work permits, business staffing plans, Cayman status and permanent residency applications in an effort by WORC to ensure all final decisions follow proper policies and procedures set by established guidelines in the law.

“Jeremy’s new responsibilities will create the oversight necessary to ensure the legislation and policies governing WORC are enforced proactively – a function that has been lacking for years,” said Ms. Roulstone. “Through his process of managing investigations, Jeremy will also prepare cases and recommend case files to be dealt with either administratively, or referred to the Department of Public Prosecution for legal advice.”

Mr. Scott began his new role as Deputy Director of Compliance on 1 September 2018.

“This department will have an important impact on the people and businesses of these islands,” said Mr. Scott. “I am very much looking forward to taking the first steps in this journey that will lead to a better future for the Cayman Islands.”
