Five adult-only Caribbean resorts to dream about

Sometimes you want to get away, but not from the weather — from the kids! There are plenty of Adults-only resorts in the Caribbean which cater to those who are 18 plus. No splashing at the pool or loud screams during a gourmet meal – at least not from children, anyway. I’ve selected a few All Inclusive options for you in popular sun destinations.

RIVIERA MAYA, MEXICO

Secrets Capri Riviera Cancun is a luxury resort located on the Caribbean Sea, about halfway between the Cancun airport and Playa Del Carmen. As an adult-only resort, Secrets Capri is ideal for a romantic vacation that is sophisticated and relaxed. What makes this a stand-out property is the Unlimited-Luxury All-Inclusive experience. This property boasts five gourmet restaurants, one buffet, and one café, and all can manage special dietary considerations including vegetarian, gluten- and sugar-free, organic, and more. But you can work it all off in their 16,000 square foot pool and by using your complimentary green fees at the nearby Grand Coral Riviera.

PUNTA CANA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

It’s rare to discover a unique destination in the Dominican Republic, but The Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado succeeds. The luxury adults-only resort for guests 18 and over is located on an exclusive 1.5 km island in the Samaná paradise. The resort’s 209 rooms and suites all feature canopy beds, and are elegantly appointed and very spacious. With four restaurants and six bars, your needs for sustenance will be expertly attended to. Or if you prefer, choose the à la carte dishes of the 24-hour room service and feel great because it’s an option and not a choice because of the kids!

OCHOS RIOS, JAMAICA

Escape to Secrets St. James Montego Bay where a peaceful and sophisticated paradise awaits set on a peninsula in the Caribbean. This Adults Only resort completely pampers you by offering the ultimate in sophistication, relaxation, romance, and all the privileges of the Secrets’ Unlimited-Luxury promise. The 350 luxurious guest suites, feature crisp décor, a king or two queen-size beds, whirlpool tub, private balcony, a complimentary mini-bar and much more. There’s plenty to keep you busy if you want to keep active: Tennis, sailing, kayaking, and snorkeling are all offered here, but so are deliciously comfortable beach and lounge chairs. If napping on the beach or by the pool is on your agenda, there won’t be any splashing kids to keep you from your bliss.

PROVIDENCIALES, TURKS AND CAICOS

The Club Med Turquoise is the resort legends are made of and remain the exclusive all-inclusive adults only resort in Provo. Though the exterior has aged and could use a new paint job and some plant-watering, the vibe is fun and lively. Many visitors are single and are in their late twenties and up. Room furnishings are modest and colourful and it remains great value if you are looking for a luxurious destination filled with lots of watersports and group activities including the many theme parties that happen at night. The highlight is a chance to flex your acrobatic skills on the trapeze. Or there’s the option to relax by the chic pool or lay on the gorgeous white sands of Grace Bay Beach while looking out at the ocean.

SAINT JAMES, BARBADOS

The House is an adults-only resort on the glorious West coast of Barbados. Unique for the Caribbean, The House is a chic and tranquil retreat for adults to unwind and reconnect in an elegant setting. Settle in to your suite, and enjoy a complimentary jet lag revival massage in a beach cabana before heading for complimentary afternoon tea and evening canapés. Evening meals are taken in the Zagat-rated Daphne’s Restaurant. Start the next day right with a complimentary Champagne breakfast and then explore the beauty of Barbados
