(ZIZ NEWS)— The CIBC First Caribbean International Bank is continuing to demonstrate its support and commitment to helping persons affected by cancer.

This year, the bank has partnered with “A Time For Us Foundation” to raise funds that will go towards the Cancer Centre SKN.

Manager of Retail Banking and Operations/Country Lead, G. Diane Francis spoke of the bank’s focus and the aim of the annual walk for the cure which takes place in October.

She said, “Our mission through our walk for the cure is to raise funds to build awareness to provide support to those who continue to fight this disease and honour those we’ve lost within our federation. Part of our strategic priority is to cultivate deeper relationships with our clients across our business and as part of our corporate social responsibility; we seek to aid in the development of the people within our communities.”

She added, “It is our hope that the establishment of this treatment centre in our federation will significantly decrease the cost to cancer patients while providing enduring support and care to the citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis.”

Minister of Health Hon. Eugene Hamilton thanked CIBC First Caribbean for its continued drive in the fight against cancer.

He also spoke of the importance of public-private partnerships in the health sector, sating, “An alliance is being formed between a time for us and First Caribbean on this walk, signifies the importance of the private sector as a partner in delivering health care in the federation. And so I also think it signifies that First Caribbean is a serious corporate responsibility partner and I think they deserve commendation.

In the past 4 years CIBC First Caribbean has donated to several cancer foundations including Essence of Hope, Pink Lily, Reach for Recovery Foundation, Rotary Club of St. Kitts, and St. Kitts Nevis Cancer Patients Assistance Fund.
