Extension of Esterley Tibbetts Highway through Camana Bay scheduled for completion within 12 months

Members-of-the-CPA-Board-visited-the-ETH-roadworks-Site-earlier-this-yea.-630x210The expansion of the Esterley Tibbetts Highway through the Camana Bay Town Centre and south to the roundabout for the future Airport Connector Road is under construction and on schedule for completion within the next 12 months.

After consultation with the National Roads Authority and VHB transportation consultants, Dart Realty (Cayman) Ltd. submitted an amendment to the existing approval from the Central Planning Authority. The amendment includes a northerly realignment and expansion of the Camana Bay roundabout as well as a new mini roundabout. This expansion, collaboratively designed with and approved by the NRA, will address current traffic issues as well as facilitate future growth.

As part of this expansion, the Esterley Tibbetts Highway will be increased to four lanes and include the addition of a southward extension to the Butterfield roundabout. The existing road will be realigned westward and will feature a mini roundabout linking Lawrence Boulevard with the Esterley Tibbetts Highway. Additionally, the Camana Bay roundabout will be shifted to the north and will feature an oval shape allowing for a more efficient flow of traffic.

The NRA’s commitment to developing the road infrastructure of the Cayman Islands and its vision of sustainable transport and land development, aligns perfectly with Dart Realty’s philosophy of master planning and thoughtful development.

Jackie Doak, Dart Realty’s Chief Operating Officer, remarked, “Rebar has never appeared so artistically beautiful – the architectural curve of the vehicular underpass is visually stunning and we are excited to participate in the delivery of essential roads infrastructure.”

These continued improvements to Cayman’s road network are a reflection of collaboration and shared vision between Dart Realty, the National Roads Authority and the Cayman Islands Government for world class infrastructure to meet our country’s current needs and stimulate future economic growth.
