Experience Cayman LIVE Spotlights small businesses

George Town, Grand Cayman, Tuesday, 24 November 2020: With the holidays just around the corner, Saturday Night Live in George Town has returned as Experience Cayman LIVE, putting the spotlight on small local businesses.

Hosted by the Ministry of Commerce, Planning and Infrastructure’s Experience Cayman, in partnership with the George Town Revitalisation Initiative and the Cayman Islands Centre for Business Development, Experience Cayman LIVE will see around 30 local vendors take over Cardinall Avenue, on Saturday, 5 December from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

“We couldn’t imagine a better way to kick off the holiday season,” George Town Manager and Revitalisation Coordinator, Colin Lumsden, said. “By bringing together some of Cayman’s best artisans and food vendors, we will remind everyone about the amazing talents we have on island.”

“The event is all about celebrating the wonderful local community we have in Cayman by bringing everyone together in the heart of our islands,” Mr. Lumsden said. “We also want to showcase just how much George Town has to offer and get people excited about being in town, again. This is certainly not the last event in the Saturday Night Live series. I can’t wait to have George Town filled with life, year-round.”

Director of the Cayman Islands Centre for Business Development, Althea West-Myers stated that one of the key factors for economic growth and development in the islands is supporting micro and small enterprises.

“The Ministry of Commerce, Planning and Infrastructure has been proactive in this regard through Government relief measures for micro and small businesses, so this is just another way to provide support. With so many businesses around Cayman being hard hit by the knock-on effects of Covid-19, both Experience Cayman and Experience Cayman LIVE centre around and encourage the ongoing support and awareness of our amazing entrepreneurs and local businesses,” Mrs. West-Myers said.

Experience Cayman LIVE will be an event for the entire family with live music and a kids’ play area rounding off the evening’s offerings.

Businesses can still register to be a part of Experience Cayman LIVE. It’s free to sign up; however, spaces are limited. Interested vendors should email [email protected] to get involved.
