Two Arrested – Accessory after the fact to murder

Around 3:00pm Tuesday 10 February 2015, a 29 year old male and a 24 year old female of West Bay were arrested by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on suspicion accessory after the fact, to the murder of Victor Oliver Yates.

Victor Yates was fatally shot on Saturday 3 January 2015, on Watercourse Road, West Bay.

Both suspects remain in police custody.

North Side Raid Updated

Men Charged:

This after noon, Tuesday 10 February 2015, three men arrested last Sunday in North Side in a police led operation, appeared in summary court on drugs and firearm related charges.

Two of the three suspects age 25 years and 27 years were remanded to H.M.P Northward until later this month.

The third suspect age 61 years, was bailed to return to court later this month.

Murder Arrest

Detectives from the CID – George Town Police Station re-arrested one of the three males following an early morning police operation in North Side, yesterday Sunday 8 February 2015, where 2 hand guns, ammunition and over $5,000.00 cash was seized.

The 25 year old West Bay resident is being questioned as a person of interest to the 2011 murders of Robert Machford Bush and Preston Ezekiel Rivers. Robert Bush was fatally shot at a residence on Birch Tree Hill Road, West Bay on 13 September 2011.

Preston Rivers was also fatally shot 4 days later on 17 September 2011 on Andresen Road, Off Conch Point Road, West Bay.

The accused left the jurisdiction of the Cayman Islands after the murders in 2011.

He remains in custody.

Police Raid Eureka Drive Residence

Police Operation in West Bay

On Friday 6 February 2015, detectives from RCIPS Drugs and Serious Crime Task Force (DSCTF) conducted an operation on Eureka Drive, West Bay, where 2 men were arrested for possession of ganja.

Detectives seized over CI $3,000.00 in cash, believed to be the proceeds from criminal conduct.

The accused men aged 52 years and 59 years respectively, were bailed to return to the George Town Police Station at a later date.

The matter remains under investigation.

Early hour raid in North Side

Police Operation in North Side

Three men are in custody following an early hour morning police operation in North Side, conducted Sunday 8 February 2015, by the RCIPS.

The three were arrested for possession of illegal drugs, firearms and live ammunition. Seized was a quantity of cash which is believed to be the proceeds from criminal conduct.

The operation forms part of the ongoing initiative by the RCIPS focusing, on detection and prosecution of persons or groups engaged in serious violent criminal activity.

The professional manner in which the operation was conducted resulted without injuries to any of the parties involved. This speaks to the emphasis placed by the RCIPS on the safety and wellbeing of the community and its officers when conducting operations of this type.
