By Trinidad Express From St Lucia Online

TRINIDAD EXPRESS – Even as officers of the Port of Spain Division continue to search for missing Woman Police Constable (WPC) Nayasha Joseph, they are making advances in the fight against crime.

Yesterday, officers of the Port of Spain Division, under the supervision of ASP Henry, recovered two crocus bags of marijuana near a jetty in Sea Lots.

On Saturday, officers also arrested a 26-year-old man who had in his possession a loaded 9mm Baretta pistol.

The two crocus bags of marijuana were found before midday yesterday by a team of officers from the Port of Spain Division and the Defence Force, with assistance from officials from the TTPS Canine Unit.

There was no one near the two bags at the time of seizure.

Police sources told the Express that the bags contained 22 large packets, weighing a combined total of 13.2 kilogrammes.

The drugs are said to have a street value of $450,000.

On Saturday, officers were conducting searches along Pioneer Drive, when they had cause to stop and search a man known to them. The man was found with a Baretta pistol, loaded with 11 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and he was arrested.

He was expected to be charged and taken before the courts.
