Vaccine Available To Many More People

In a move that only last week was described by Secretary Azar as untenable, today the government released all current vaccines in the national stockpile and expanded the eligibility to everyone over the age of 65 years as well as those under 65 years old with a health condition that puts them in the high risk group.

This new strategy, which closely mirrors President-elect Biden’s plan, was announced today at an Operation Warp Speed press conference. Health and Human Services Secretary Azar said that supply had exceeded demand and it was time to make the supply more widely available. He also said that the manufacturing pipeline was secure enough to ensure second doses would be available from ongoing production.

As a reminder, both currently approved vaccines require two doses and just last week, the FDA reiterated that it was not safe to skip the second dose.

This is good news in our effort to get more vaccine into people’s arms.
Take care of yourself so we can get through this together.
