Danielle’s Lemon-aide

ALSF-logo-square1I have committed to running 12 races over the course of the year (2014) to raise money for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. I appreciate any amount you can give to support these efforts–every penny counts! Please feel free to email me if you would like to find out more about where I’m running or how you can help! About Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of supporters across the country carrying on her legacy of hope.

So I just pressed “go” on one of the biggest things I’ve ever committed to in my life.  I’m nervous, very scared but mostly hopeful that I will be able to make a difference in the coming year.   Just a couple of months ago I learned about Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.  These folks raise money for childhood cancer research—research that is very much needed for the kiddos of the world.  As I learned more about the Foundation, the grants, the research needed, something resonated with me in my core.  I am now bound and determined to do whatever I can to help these folks with their mission.

slide2As such, I have just made a commitment to run 12 races in 2014.  Averaging one race a month with the final race being the Cayman Islands 1/2 marathon.  I am not what I would consider a runner so this is a huge undertaking for me.  I’m not going to lie, there might be some walking, but I will finish every race and hope you will cheer me on along the way.

The running isn’t even the scariest part…the scariest part is my fundraising goal.  I wanted to be bold and not let fear in the way.  I wanted to make an impact–even though I know every PENNY counts.  As such, I have made a fundraising goal of $12,000 for the year.  This is where I need your help.  Spread the word.  Ask your company.  Donate as a gift to someone.  Donate for no reason at all.   What do you get in return?  Endless gratitude and post run sweaty hugs for one.  A tax write off for you Americans out there, for two.  Most importantly you will help save a child’s life.

Here is the link to my fundraising page…http://www.alexslemonade.org/mypage/1000199  Please, please, please pass this along to anyone and everyone and feel free to pop by and donate…$1, $10, $10,000…anything you can!

I’ll keep you updated on when I’m running and how the fundraising is going.  Please feel free to email me with any questions or if you would like any more information!  Wish me luck!!!

As of now, Danielle has completed her first run and has raised over $1000 towards her goal.  Please help her in reaching her goal and, more importantly, saving the lives of children worldwide.  Please let either of us know if you have any questions or if you want to learn more about the foundation.  We appreciate all of your support!
