CSA maritime industry conference to focus on ‘improving productivity’

Grand Lucayan Resort – The Grand Lucayan Resort will be the host resort for the upcoming Caribbean Shipping Executive Conference, taking place on Grand Bahama Island next week. Organizers say that more than 200 delegates, representing some 40 countries have registered for the event, which should translate to more than 480 hotel room nights and much welcomed economic injection for the local economy.FREEPORT, Grand Bahama -– In a matter of days, regional and global executives within the Maritime Services Industry will convene on Grand Bahama Island, for the 12th Annual Caribbean Shipping Executive Conference.

Under the theme “Improving Productivity”,  conference speakers will address key areas of the Maritime Industry, namely; ‘Marine Pilot Services’, ‘Alternative Energy’, ‘The Economic Impact on Cruise’, ‘Automated Terminals’ and a number of other topics vital to the Maritime Sector.

CSA #2“One of the topics that CSA will be discussing during this executive conference is promoting growth in the industry, particularly with the opening of the Panama Canal, as well as regional Port Development,” stated Mr. Godfrey Smith, CEO for the Hutchison Port Holdings Bahamas, during a recent press conference announcing the event. “Regional and global players are taking a proactive approach to this ‘game changing’ event for Maritime Industry within the Western Hemisphere,” Smith noted.

Monday morning marks the opening ceremony for the conference, at which Prime Minister the Rt. Honourable Perry G. Christie is slated as the Keynote speaker.  Conference participants are scheduled to begin arriving on island as of this coming Sunday.   Event organizers shared that more than 200 delegates, representing some 40 countries have registered for the event. These numbers they say,  will translate to more than 480 hotel room nights, dining activities, island tours, shopping and entertainment, all of which bodes well for the local economy.

The event is hosted by the Freeport Harbour Company and The Grand Bahama Port Authority, Limited. Event sponsors include the Ministry of Tourism, MSC Bahamas, the Grand Bahama Shipyard, as well as numerous other industry stakeholders.
