Cosby’s wife ordered to testify in his sex assault case

The wife of comedian Bill Cosby has been ordered by a judge to give a deposition to lawyers for seven women accusing him of sexual assault in Massachusetts.

In a 12-page ruling, U.S. Magistrate Judge David Hennessy rejected Camille Cosby’s motion to quash the subpoena for the deposition, The Boston Globe reports.

“The allegations underlying this matter, which implicate … [Bill Cosby’s] sexual history and … Mrs. Cosby’s dual role as defendant’s wife and business manager, render it at least plausible that Mrs. Cosby is in possession of information” relevant to the lawsuit, the judge wrote, the Globe reports.
The ruling came a day after Cosby was hit with criminal charges in Pennsylvania for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in 2004.

In the Massachusetts case, the women allege Cosby assaulted them decades ago and then defamed them in the press through representatives when they went public, the Globe reports. Cosby has already filed a countersuit. Meanwhile, the scandal-scarred comedian finally broke his silence on Twitter Thursday with a thank-you to fans.

For some, it wasn’t enough; a retweet from one fan drew a number of replies scolding the poster, including one who charged “you retweeted a rapist.”
